What stands out about Afghan Kebab is its authenticity. The restaurant serves up juicy, tender skewers of seasoned meat, each grilled to perfection. Whether you’re into lamb, chicken, or beef, the flavors are bold and balanced, giving you a true taste of Afghan cooking. Many patrons rave about how the meat is always fresh, and the spices are just right, neither overwhelming nor bland.

One of the most popular items on the menu is their lamb kebab. The meat is marinated with a blend of Afghan spices, giving it a deep flavor that's hard to find anywhere else. The kebab is perfectly grilled, with just the right amount of char on the outside while remaining tender and juicy on the inside. Pair that with a side of rice pilaf, and you’ve got a meal that hits all the right notes.

Another crowd-pleaser is their chicken kebab, which is marinated to perfection and grilled until it’s slightly crispy on the edges while remaining tender and flavorful. The char-grilled vegetables that accompany the kebabs are also worth mentioning - they add a nice touch of smokiness that complements the meat beautifully.

For those who enjoy a bit of variety, Afghan Kebab offers combo platters, where you can choose two or more types of kebabs served with a side of rice, salad, and naan. It’s a great option if you want to sample different flavors in one meal. The naan is soft, fresh, and slightly charred from the oven, adding an extra layer of flavor to your meal.

The staff is patient and eager to share their love for the food they serve. And if you’re a regular, you’ll find that the consistency of the food and service keeps you coming back time and time again.

  • Afghan Kebab in Cary is a hidden gem! Tried their Sunday breakfast buffet a flavorful fusion of Afghan and Pakistani classics. The halwa puri combo was a standout, and the shakshuka, choley, and aloo tarkari were all delicious. Loved the lassi and chai too. Staff was warm and attentive, always bringing fresh puris. Feels like a cozy, homestyle brunch. Can’t wait to go back! Pro tip: Come hungry on a Sunday morning you won’t regret it.

  • Delicious food, friendly service, and welcoming atmosphere. Everything was incredibly flavorful. The Spiced Chickpeas are an absolute showstopper, but we also enjoyed the Aushak (which is vegetarian), the Beef Kobidah Wrap (a lunch special), and the Firni for dessert. The Naan was fluffy and wonderful, too. This was our first time trying Afghani food, and it will definitely not be our last. We will absolutely be back!

  • Authentic Afghan food. Amazing taste. We ordered their Bolani, beef koobideh lunch platter , chapli kabab burger and a regular burger for the little one. For dessert their Falooda. Everything tasted phenomenal! Wish we had a chance to order to go but the owner was leaving for salat. Would recommend this place 100%.

  • The food was super tasty and fresh. We ordered chicken karahi, mixed platter, and chanay, and everything was full of flavor. Their chicken karahi is legit and highly recommended. The platter meat was soft and spicy, the platter had a nice mix of meats, and the chanay tasted just like homemade. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the place had a cozy, welcoming vibe. Definitely one of the best meals we’ve had in a while — can’t wait to go back!

  • This restaurant serves the best Afghan dishes. The place is clean, and the food is incredibly delicious. The dishes look like they were made in their home country. I recommend everyone to try this restaurant. Also, their portions are generous and filling. The desserts are tasty too, especially the baklava. This is an excellent spot for people who want to experience authentic Afghan cuisine. I highly recommend it. Finally, I want to thank them for their kind and respectful service.

  • One of the best places to have authentic Pakistani kadhai in North Carolina! We had the mutton kadhai (half), it was served piping hot, the tomato based gravy was flavorful and the meat was extremely tender. It’s served with naans, plenty for two people. We also had the chicken koobideh, that was decent. Next time we’ll try the Kabuly Uzbeki Pulao and lamb chops. Those dishes appeared to be pretty popular, several patrons had ordered them.

  • First off, the food was REALLY good, which is part of the reason why the ratings are so high. Afghan food feels like a mix of Indian and Mediterranean. Love the flavors. We had a number 8 and a number 12. The kebab meat was perfect as was the 1/2 chicken. The salad was something I’d go back for again, for sure. Really fresh ingredients. The food is served FAMILY STYLE, which is why it’s a little on the pricey side. We could have easily shared one dish between the two of us. The service was great. The employees were warm and welcoming. The strip mall feel and the makeshift sign out front weren’t enough to deter us. The only feedback I’d offer on improvements is that it would have been nice to have real plates (instead of paper) and real utensils (instead of plastic). It was just hard to eat the food on disposable dishes with plastic utensils. Given a choice between the two, I’d go with actual utensils. The drink options are pretty limited and the mango drinks weren’t made fresh to order. We bought two bottled waters.
